I personally watched it because of Donnie Yen, and my movie guy kept mentioning it. The Last Time I liked Keanu was in the Matrix. But even he, Donnie Yen, is a blind man in the movie trying to look cool in sunglasses and some walking stick.
It’s a rubbish movie, really. It doesn’t help that it is hideously long, at like 2 hours 50 mins. I understand the original one was three hours and 45 minutes.
It’s a silly movie. You feel stupid sitting there watching grown men playing with guns as if they are toys. I just sat through it out of respect. With his slow, looping running style and geeky fighting style, Keanu Reeves is inelegant. His moves are not clean or majestic. Those who love Jet Li, Donnie Yen, Max Zhang, and other Martial arts actors will be very disappointed.
There is nothing to like in the entire movie except the last moment when some tyrant psychopath is fooled by Donnie Yen and Keanu Reeves about a gunshot.
